Planning a science birthday doesn’t have to be complicated. We’ve done a lot of these parties around Katy, Fulshear, and West Houston, and the best ones usually come down to a few simple things. Here’s what we tell parents.

1. Pick a theme that fits your kid
Start with what your child already loves. Rockets? Look at Blast Off. Likes mixing things up? The Chemist. Always chasing bubbles? Bubbles. Want to take home something squishy? Slime Party (that one is limited to 10 guests). You can see what’s in each one on our Party Levels page. Not sure which fits your group? Tell us the ages and we’ll help you pick.
2. Put two extra lines on the invite
Besides the date and time, add:
- “Please wear clothes that can get a little messy.”
- “Let us know about any food allergies.”
The first one saves a few parents some stress. The second helps you plan snacks and treats with no surprises.
3. Give kids something to do when they walk in
Guests never all show up at once. Set out a simple lab badge station with name tags, markers, and stickers so early arrivals have something to do while you wait on everyone else. It gets them in “scientist mode” before the experiments start.
4. Keep the experiments away from the food
Set up the experiment area in one spot and the cake and snacks in another. It keeps slime out of the frosting and gives everybody room to see. A table or open floor space works great for us. Backyards are perfect for things like water rockets.

5. Send the science home with them
The best favor is one kids actually use after the party. Every guest scientist goes home with their experiment, and you can add more from our Party Add-Ons page, like slime, Pop Rockets, Juggling Bubble Kits, or a custom lab coat with the birthday kid’s name on it. We love hearing that kids were still doing experiments the next day.
